Default All Mesmer Urgoz Test Build Run 1

Hi,

Just thought I'd post up the build and results of the first all mesmer urgoz run. The purpose of this trip was to gather enough information to refine the builds so as to make a serious attempt on Saturday.

The team composition was
2 X me/W stances with Phy and ele resistance. - Black Guinivere, and Gwen Starlight
1 X Me/n with Consume corpse, BIP,BR, weakness and epidemic - Don J Dunrandal
2 X me/e fast cast fire ele's - Benjamin Naoran + 1 leaver
1 X me/e Warder and blinds - Geraldine Griffiths
1 X Me/E Interupt/shutdown - Me
1 X Me/R trapper with eoe - Anima Evasen
4 X Me/Mo Aegis, heal party and condition removal - Aurora Vicious, Gey Gordon, The Con Artist, Quick Rinoa

The Team starting out after killing the suiciders

In full combat

Are there no end to these dredge. At this point one of the Me/E's decided they no longer had time, so left us. Alas reducing our damage output considerably

Room 2

We had killed the degen tree and most of the blood drinkers, then one of our me/mo's had an error 7. This was on top of extreme lag(10 second freezes) by some people which made this pretty tough going for most and impossible for some. Seeing it was early am for some, and just a test run we cut it short, rescheduling for later on when time and lag allows full attempt could be made.

The key things we noted were pretty much the build was spot on, except for the warriors which needed more evasion stances such as bonetti's or even glads defense.

At no point was the party in danger of wiping and it was felt that without lag, leavers and Err'7 then reaching Urgoz himself was very achievable given enough time. We took it slowly, so in future runs it may be faster but I would estimate allowing 3 hours to get to Urgoz and maybe another 45-60 mins of trying to kill. I guess the rule here is if you are under any kinda time constraint, don't come.

The only thing we had left to test were Thorn wolves, but seeing as the sheer amount of melee damage we were under at time I have no doubt, with careful play these would pose no real problem.

All players did superbly and did the growing tradition of these runs proud.

Thanks

Shan

Yeah trying to make a Mesmer tank down there is... kinda hard... you cant armor stack and then perma SB/SF/OFlesh them, you lack alot of absorption/armor, etc... But the thing is that through many of the area a low hp tank would work perfectly. And its not like Protective Spirit and Healing Breeze are bad skills... just carry them on a Me/Mo.

Also the lost of a Ritualist really hurts. I mean, Im sure a full party of Mesmers could do it, but... I dont really see the point, other classes have plenty to offer which primary Mesmers dont (dont try and argue, either *points to Shelter*). Its not quite like FOW where 8 properly prepared *insert class name* can just CHEW through the place... you gonna have difficulty tanking Thorn Wolves on a mesmer primary unless you A) have distortion up against blinded Wolves (which will still kill you occassionally) B) have prot spirit/shelter up... which isnt REALLY a mesmer.

If you want to really glorify the strengths of Mesmers, have 10-11 Mesmers using ONLY (or very nearly only) Mesmer skills and 1-2 members of another class bringing something which a 'pure' Mesmer primary just /cant/... like Healing or Shelter. If you do that, instead of just having some fire ele's with FC instead of ES and other nonsense, youll better accomplish what I have always percieved is the goal of these 'all mesmer' groups.

I Thought about taking a rit, but shelter is useless unless your a primary rit really. Tho we've used Soul Twisting on taking on rotscale to help keep shelter up

I also thought about low HP warriors etc, but the degen and exhaustion rooms would kill them very quickly(yes I know they can swap armors etc but then you have nearly useless tanks). Also since a lot of the fights are prolonged keeping PS on them reliably would also be an issue.

The Original idea was to put down GC and the warder use Ward vs harm, and the wa's Elemental resistance to buff the armor of the surrounding team this was used quite succesfully in other areas such as PvE tombs where graspings hit hard and strip enchants etc. The only downside to GC is that it would die fast in degen.

Probably the biggest test we still need to do is work out how to function in the exhaustion rooms, but seeing as this was achieved in an all mes Deep party i don't think it's insurmountable.

One of the points about these trips is to try and find a way around the limitations of the class(e.g no divine favor, expertise, soul reapin, runes etc), and not suplement them with other primary classes because it's too hard(also taking 10 mesmers and then monks is also not 'all mesmer' }. I think you'd be surprised at just how few secondary profession skills people take on these trips.

The main point tho is it's fun, we get to hang out, and the reactions of other players makes them more than worthwhile.

All mesmer trips are a tribute to the most flexible caster-class in the game ubermancer, not to just playing pure mesmer.

Congrats on the test run, I'd really like to see an all-mesmer team do Urgozs If you are looking for another party member, I'm always happy to join - I spend a lot of time hanging out in the Deep, so no worries about being a leaver, I'm in it for the long haul ^^

Cool All Mesmer Urgoz Test Run 2

Being The Elite Mission Weekend, and the usual Pug view thats mesmers suck in Elite Missions, we decided to turn our Attentions back to Urgoz.

The team comprised of

The build was a modified one from when we cleared the UW and fow with mesmers, with me again reprising the role of Me/rit

Combat in Room 1

Completed Room 1

Room 2 was completed fairly easily with the mobs being pulled nicely against the wall

Room 3 was where where we got hit by 2 error 7's and one gtg emergency, leaving us with no me/r and no Me/E fire damage

We pressed on into room 4, the fire flower bridge and the first test of the build against thorn wolves

Facing room 5

With reduced damage output and no trapper eventually we wiped in the middle of Room 5.

Having faced all types of mobs in Urgoz, it's just a matter of time and ward against err 7 before we complete it. I expected the Thorn wolves to hit hard, but the prot and rit skills reduced the damage spikes to somewhat managable amounts.

Many thanks to all those who were on the team, your play was outstanding and it was huge fun.
